Dr. K.M. Chacko
Dr. K. M. Chacko, currently the Director of Shriram Institute for Industrial Research completed his bachelor’s degree from Kerala University and Master’s from Kanpur University. He obtained his Ph. D. degree in Toxicology from C. C. S. University, Meerut.
He then joined Ranbaxy laboratory and served for two years. Thereafter, he joined Shriram Institute for Industrial Research in the year 1979 in the Toxicology lab. and since than he is serving in this institute.
He has over 10 research papers to his credit and has 5 students who have worked under his supervision for their Ph. D. degree.
Dr. Chacko is a Toxicologist and has supervised and successfully completed several toxicity studies like acute, sub-acute, mutagenicity, carcinogenicity, In-vitro toxicity studies, Pharmacological studies etc.
He is a member of several committees like, BIS Committee for Medical Devices, BIS Committee for the Safety Evaluation of Cosmetics, Indian Association of Toxicology, Food Association of India, Member of the Committee constituted by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for the detection of heavy metals in Toys.
Dr. Chacko is also the Management representative for ISO-9001, Environmental Management System, OH & S 18001 and ISO/IEC 17025 (NABL) and Lead assessor for NABL.
